Our most flavor rich and best-structured parcels of Shiraz are blended together
each year for the “Oscar Semmler” Shiraz. “The Oscar” is the reserve label for
Dutschke, representing “the best of the vintage.”
This special selection of Shiraz grapes was harvested from the St Jakobi
vineyard, planted in 1975. Picked on two separate occasions over a period of 7
days. The must was fermented for 7 days in open fermenters, before being
transferred to new and one year old French Oak Hogsheads to complete
fermentation. Post fermentation the wine was racked and then returned to these
same French oak barrels to mature for a further 24 months.
The 2004 Oscar Semmler Shiraz is recognized by it’s fullness, mid palate
sweetness and characteristics of plum and dark cherries. Spicy French oak
characters compliment the sweet fruit mid palate concentration. The finish is
long, highlighted by fruit, clean acidity and soft drying tannin.
